Vera Wang’s Swimsuit Snaps Spark Benjamin Button Comparisons From Fans

Vera Wang has set social media ablaze once again. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, May 28, the 74-year-old fashion designer shared a gallery of photos of herself in a white swimsuit, dangly earrings, Vera Wang sunglasses (obviously), and bejeweled slides, leaving followers perplexed about her seemingly ageless appearance.

“My SLIM AARONS moment …Happy Summer!” she wrote in the accompanying caption.

Her 915,000 followers quickly filled the comments section with praise. “Teach me your ways, V,” one fan eagerly asked. Another quipped, “You must have Benjamin Button syndrome,” playfully suggesting that she seems to be getting physically younger as she grows older, like the character in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s famous short story.

The bridal designer, who’s approaching her 75th birthday on June 27, spoke with People last month about her party plans, telling the outlet that they were still “up in the air,” admitting that turning “75 is a lot of pressure.”

As for the number itself, she doesn’t seem to have any qualms about it. “I’m just going to keep prodding on because I feel as though I’m able to do my best work more and more,” she told the outlet. “I’m really trying to respect that in me, that voice in me, that I feel very happy to be creating. That’s what it’s all about, really.” 

This isn’t the first time Wang’s tied her work ethic to her youthfulness. In October, she reiterated this idea in an interview with Page Six Style. “Basically, I’ve worked my whole life, so it’s really been about work,” Wang told the outlet. “I think work keeps you young and stimulated.

“I work very long hours, I’ve raised two daughters. I think keeping busy is the best antidote [for] good health,” she continued.

Wang has frequently addressed aging. She also touched on the subject in an interview with BBC 100 Women in 2022, as well, telling the outlet that never thought to go “out of [her way] to “preserve youth in a fanatical, obsessive way.”

Responding to the comments she gets praising her appearance, like in her recent post, she said: “It’s very complimentary and I am very grateful for that.” she continued. “But, I have been asked; what are my ‘secrets.’” Her response was nothing short of iconic: good sleep and a good cocktail. “I value having a vodka cocktail at the end of the day, because it helps me to transition from a very intense work schedule to a bit of a private life.”
