Spring Skin SOS: 6 Holistic Skin Tips from the Experts

Spring Skin SOS: 6 Holistic Skin Tips from the Experts

As spring bursts forth with blooming flowers and longer days, it also ushers in an unwelcome companion: allergies. For many, this season can mean itchy eyes, runny noses, and skin that feels less than its best. Pollen and environmental irritants can leave complexions looking dull and irritated, making it essential to find ways to nurture and protect our skin during these vibrant yet sometimes challenging months.

To help you navigate these seasonal skin struggles, we’ve consulted with local and loved naturopath Holly Hatton and asked MV Founder Sharon McGlinchey for her tried and tested spring skin prescriptions too. Together, we’ve curated six natural tricks that not only calm your complexion but also support your body’s overall balance. From indulging in a delicious spring recipe (we found one for you), to a ‘not-so-conventional Jojoba hack’ – these expert-approved tips combat the effects of spring allergies while celebrating the beauty of renewal that this season brings. Get ready to glow with radiant, healthy skin as we embrace the warmth and vibrancy of spring!
We sat down over a chilled Radiance Tea (true story), and asked Sharon to spill the beans on her foolproof spring skin health prescriptions. Here’s what you need to know:

Get Innovative with Pure Jojoba

Did you know that Pure Jojoba can be used in a surprising way to help combat seasonal allergies? By gently applying a thin layer of Pure Jojoba oil to the rim and inner lining of your nostrils, you create a natural barrier that helps trap allergens like pollen and dust before they can enter your respiratory system and create irritation. This simple yet effective technique not only helps reduce your exposure to irritants but also protects the sensitive mucosal lining of your nose, keeping it moisturised and soothed during allergy season. It’s an easy way to multi-purpose a product you may already have and support your body’s defence against springtime allergens!

Increase Mask Frequency

For those seeking an intensive skin treatment, we recommend using our Signature Mineral Mask up to 3 times a week. This skincare game changer is perfect for reducing redness and evening out skin tone, delivering a soothing, strengthening, and refining experience. Rich in essential minerals like silica, zinc, magnesium, manganese, calcium, potassium, and iron oxide, our Signature Mask bathes the underlying skin tissue with nutrients that strengthen, refine, soothe, and heal. With zero additives, it boasts maximum purity, making it suitable for even the most sensitive and reactive skin types. By increasing your mask frequency, you’ll harness its incredible benefits for a revitalised and radiant complexion!

Harness The Power Of Roses

Spring allergies can leave your skin feeling unbalanced and sensitive, but our Rose Plus Booster is here to help! Recently awarded for the ninth time, this exceptional booster is specifically formulated to balance and strengthen skin affected by seasonal irritants. Eat For The Season

As spring arrives with longer, warmer days, our cravings shift toward lighter meals, and with the abundance of spring veggies on offer it’s no wonder. Eating seasonally not only saves you money on your grocery bill, but connects you to the seasons and generally tastes better as pr

oduce is fresher, more nutrient dense and often locally sourced. Check your local farmers’ market to see what’s in season in your area.  Need some inspo? We got you! Check out our friend Melissa Hemsley’s incredible recipe for Spring Beetroot Salad, (pictured below).

Consider A Spring Cleanse

Spring is an ideal time for a gentle cleanse or detox, as this is when many wild herbs and weeds pop up that support liver and lymphatic function which will give you that extra boost and healthy skin glow. Focus on incorporating plenty of vegetables—especially greens and fresh herbs—along with lean proteins and healthy fats. Give your liver some love and have a little break from alcohol, and focus on getting 2-3L of good quality filtered water daily. You may also consider swapping out your coffee for roasted dandelion tea, which aids liver detoxification and bile release.

Support Your Gut

If you suffer from hay fever or eczema during this season, supporting your gut health with healing bone broth is a great strategy. Seasonal allergies are often linked to gut health, so if you suspect you need extra support here get in contact with a health practitioner that can identify and nurture your individual needs. Quercetin is a key nutrient for managing allergies, which you can find in supplemental form, however it is also abundant in red onions, particularly in the outer layers. To get the most from your produce, freeze your vegetable scraps to make a broth with onion skins and other vegetable trimming. You can combine this with bone broth concentrate or use it alone in spring soups and cooking. The brassica family—broccoli, kale, bok choy, cabbage, and radishes—also contains quercetin and support liver detoxification, making them a perfect choice for your spring diet, just leave them out of your broth as they can make it taste a little too bitter.

This is not intended as medical advice and does not take into account individualised circumstances. As always consult your health care professional before taking herbs or supplements.
