VMAs 2024: Chappell Roan’s Ultra-Sharp Manicure – NewBeauty

The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are the perfect time for our favorite artists to show us what they’re made of. And that includes putting their best manicure forward. From Chappell Roan’s spiky metal mani to the 3D embellishment on Chanel West Coast’s VMA nails, there is no shortage of manicure inspo on the red (or black) carpet. And we have the inside scoop on how these gorgeous looks were achieved!

Chappell Roan’s Ultra Sharp VMAs Nails

Created by manicurist Joan Alvear, Chappell Roan’s nails actually took two stacked layers of Aprés nail tips. The length was achieved by combining the Gel-X Sculpted Square Long Tips ($17) with gold chrome stacked over Gel-X Sculpted Stiletto Extra Extra Long Tips ($17) finished with silver chrome.

Sealed with a Glossy Top Coat ($13), this manicure is a blend of the ultra modern and the Joan of Arc warrior woman that Chappell embodied on the carpet. The armor-like quality to her VMAs nails makes it seem like an extension of her sword, a powerful, take-no-crap look that she definitely mastered.

I mean, we wouldn’t want to be on the wrong end of her sword or her nails!

Karol G’s Chrome VMAs Mani

A great nail look doesn’t have to be over the top, and Karol G’s VMAs nails are the proof. Created by manicurist Saccia with Aprés nails, Karol G’s nails were actually Gel-X Natural Round Extra Short Tips ($17) combined with Aprés Gel Couleur in Birnam Wood ($15). Finished with a silver metallic chrome, the result is a manicure you can really see yourself in!

Chanel West Coast’s Glam VMAs Nails

And of course, there was the stunning look worn by Chanel West Coast. This 3D crystal extravaganza is courtesy of manicurist Jenny Bui, and utilized the perfect nude base: Aprés Gel Couleur in Pale Veil ($15). This color was applied to Gel-X Natural Almond Medium Tips ($17) before Bui placed the crystal rhinestones.
